The University of Göttingen (Georg-August-Universität Göttingen) is a historic research university founded in 1737. It is renowned for its excellence in natural sciences, humanities, and social sciences. Göttingen emphasizes international collaboration, welcoming students from all over the world with English- and German-taught programs, strong research opportunities, and a supportive campus environment. More than forty Nobel laureates are associated with the university, making it one of Germany's most prestigious academic institutions. Note that English-taught study at Göttingen is concentrated at master level: around 45 master programmes are taught in English, but only four bachelor degrees are, so undergraduate applicants have limited choice.

Simple and guided admission steps
Document Submission
Students are required to submit clear scanned copies of their school certificates, transcripts, passport, CV, and language proof (IELTS/TOEFL for English programs).
Online Application via uni-assist
Submit your application through uni-assist, the central portal for international student applications to German universities. uni-assist charges a handling fee of €75 for your first course choice in a semester and €30 for each further choice. We’ll guide you through the process.
Pre-admission Letter
Upon successful evaluation, the university will issue a pre-admission letter confirming your eligibility for the program.
Language & Entrance Requirements
Meet the language requirements (German B2-C1 or English B2-C1 depending on program) and any additional entrance requirements specific to your chosen program.
Enrollment & Semester Fee Payment
Complete your enrollment by paying the semester contribution (around €466 for summer 2026, €484 for winter 2026/27) and submitting all required documents to secure your place at the university.
