Education System in Serbia
Serbia joined the Bologna Process in 2003, introducing the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), three-cycle study system, and diploma supplements. All higher education institutions must be accredited.
Preschool Education
For children from six months to primary school age. Includes a compulsory preparatory program for children aged 5.5 to 6.5 years, free of charge in public kindergartens.
Primary Education
Compulsory eight-year education in two cycles. Free in state schools. Includes primary music and ballet education for talented students.
Secondary Education
Four-year general education at grammar schools or 2-4 year vocational education. Includes specialized grammar schools for talented students.
Higher Education

Language Requirements
The principal language of instruction is Serbian. However, there are over 170 English-taught study programmes available at all educational levels. Many universities also offer consultations with professors in English.

ECTS & Diploma Supplement
The academic year runs from October to June with two semesters. Full-time workload is 60 ECTS credits per year.
